Marist baseball hopes to rebound in 2015

After a 17-32 record in 2014, the Marist baseball team is back and ready to redeem themselves. With a new captain this season in senior first baseman Steve Laurino, the Red Foxes seem poised for a fresh start. As the team’s leader in batting average and runs batted in last season, Laurino appears to be the guy that can get his team’s offense jumpstarted. Marist can also look forward to clutch performances from sophomore relief pitcher Ryan Thomas. Thomas concluded the 2014 season with seven saves and twenty-four appearances, both tied for the lead in the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference. With seventeen strikeouts, a 3.82 ERA, and a 1-4 record, he was named MAAC Co-Relief Pitcher of the Year. Red Fox fans can expect to see more stellar pitching performances from Thomas this season. The Red Foxes also proudly boast eight MAAC All-Academic Team selections from last season, as a result of possessing a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale. These players include juniors Joey Aiola, Matt Belitz, Sean Farrell, and Graham McIntire, and seniors Mark Brennan, Evan Davis, Alec Petrone, and Rich Vrana.
